The only way they'll figure it out is if people stop going there and giving them their money.

Was in a rush this morning and skipped breakfast at home, stopped on my way in to work at a Dunkin Donuts and ordered an iced coffee and two donuts. Got a cup of the wateriest, saddest brown-colored-water you ever saw as my "iced coffee" in a cup that was 7/8ths ice and two tiny, crappy dry "donuts".

$6.31!

For tasteless brown water with some cream and two lousy donuts?

Nope. I'm done

Will start making my own iced coffee at home and will only give my money to local donut shops that make actual donuts.

Do you like cold brew coffee? If so, I've found that to be the easiest weekday coffee.

I'm a fan of cold brew, and I have two of the 1.5 liter versions. Same exact coffee beans as before will be less bitter than hot or iced coffee. Modifications I make for cold brewing:
  • normally I drink medium roast coffee, but I prefer dark roast coffee for cold brewing. Cold brewing doesn't get as much flavor out of the beans as my SCA certified Technivorm Moccamaster so I compensate with a bolder roast.
  • I normally grind my beans fine (Baratza Virtuoso setting is 14) for hot coffee, but I open it up to a coarse setting of 30 or 32 for cold brew. This drastically cuts the solids getting out of the cold brewer's strainer basket into the coffee.

I think a cold brewer with coarse ground coffee will tick all of boxes:
  • Inexpensive. I get 5 carafes out a pound of whole beans.
  • Quick and easy in the morning
  • Outstanding taste
  • More caffeine (cold brewing is more efficient for caffeine extraction).

Week days, I drink 300 ml (~10 fl oz) of cold brew every morning so the 1.5L carafe lasts a work week. BTW, if I neglect to start the cold brew on Sunday my back-up store bought cold brew is Stok Un-Sweet.

Yeah, stick to locally-owned coffee shops. Coffee will be way better than a big conglomerate chain like Dunkin, and they tend to have fresh donuts/pastries/rolls too.

I avoid fast food and chain restaurants 99% of the time. At least around here, you can find plenty of local places with similar prices but significantly higher quality and better service.

WaWA, they have PA locations, maybe ones near you.

Pastry products are fresh daily, the Apple Fritter is excellent. Fresh made breakfast producs, get the burrito, you order however you like and either excellent hot or cold coffee drinks, fru-fru man bun latte mocha frappa chino low fat, soy milk vegan frozen crap or the good stuff..

LOL, Wawa is FROM Pennsylvania my man. You can't throw a rock around here without hitting one. I just don't care for their coffee.

My wife and I went on a quest for apple fritters. We tried them from every source that was convenient -- WaWa, Dunkin', etc. We agreed (unanimously) that the best apple fritters, by FAR, were the Publix branded ones from the Publix in-store bakery.

My wife got her own espresso machine a year ago. She makes her own iced mocha daily; saves us a butt load of money.

I'm not a coffee drinker but I love me some WaWa. Last summer when they had their $6 hoagies, I had those for dinner quite often.

I like their smoothies and breakfast sandwiches as well.

If they don't know that it's broken , they won't fix it,

Id you speak to the manager in person, they might very well consider it a help and might reward you in return.

And the other people who shop there receive a great product ,
They would appreciate it as well.

Many businesses have outsourced quality control to the customer. If you say something, they may fix it. May not. May spit in your coffee next time.
I am not paid to be quality control. I will take my bizness elsewhere

Fast or quick food, for I dunno, 15 years or so now, was my go to for a cheat meal. Once weekly. I meal prep and eat pretty clean. But I have noticed at pick up food places, the quality and service both, have gone to shit. And the prices have gone up. I mean for a fast food meal combo, I could pick up a restaurant quality meal, for the exact same cost. So what’s the point of these places if service sucks, food or drink quality has gone down, and the prices have gone up? I was discussing this with a friend recently and I said that I think we will see fast food joints closing this year. They’ve been in this expansion mode forever. But people are fed up with price gouging, awful service from Gen Z’s, and seeing a drop in quality.

Now when I go out of my kitchen to eat, I’m only buying meals I can make 2 meals out of. Like this local Chinese place, mom and pop. Hot and sour soup with noodles, and great quality sesame chicken with steamed rice is like $11. That’s me giving them a buck tip too as I know the lady. She is really nice. And it’s mom and pop independent. $11 and I can make two meals out of it. Same for restaurant food that I order online and pick up. So fuck all these fast food places. They’ve all jacked up their prices and it’s not worth it any longer.

Exactly. I allow myself 1 lunch out per week, and it's typically at either a locally-owned Greek place or a locally-owned Thai place. Either place, you can get an awesome freshly made lunch with great service for $10-$12.

I remember years ago when Dunkin Iced was always consistently good. Had good coffee flavor. Then it started being inconsistent, then just bad all around. Either super bitter or watery.

Back in the day they made donuts in each location, fresh. A warm French Cruller made my day. But now, as you said, dry old donuts. Their egg isn't even real egg. Sad, but on a good note, skipping donuts is a health improvement. After all, they are dessert, not breakfast.

    These go to eleven.
