Around here it's Jeeps & ducks. But it doesn't bother me

I've never understood the DONK fad., but what I really don't get is wrapping it an advertisement for Cap't Crunch or Skittles or some other bs.

Donk

Saw something the other day I've never seen before, a spoiler on top of an SUV. Roll Eyes

It may be a wind deflector for towing a high trailer. I've seen quite a few around here on 250-450 class pickup trucks that pull huge horse trailers on the highway.

I've always wondered how they stay on the dash? Nothing stays on my dash, but then again when my kids were in car seats they would put their hands in the air and pretend they were riding a roller-coaster.

I don't recall our 1978 CJ7 having a dash that anything could sit on. I suppose I could put ducks on the dash mounted rifle carrier of our current jeep.

There's some high performance/sporty SUVs with small spoilers, from the factory.
I've seen some obnoxious aftermarket ones too, which is ridiculous on your Kia Sportage.

My truck came from the factory with a 'spoiler' on the tonneau cover.

It acts as a diffuser to create a low pressure area behind the truck to reduce drag and increase fuel economy.

The height of the cowl induction style hood also changes the air flow to reduce air resistance at speeds above 40 MPH.

Some of the tricks they figured out in the wind tunnel.

Hi-Lift jacks mounted to the hoods of Jeep Wranglers. Given the size and weight of these jacks, it seems like a logical place - until you try to open and prop up the hood. Removing the jack first has its own issues.

Not a modification, but a worthless and potentially dangerous decoration: crystals, jewels and other doo-dads glued to steering wheels and dashboards. If the air bag goes off, you've got a Claymore mine in your steering wheel.

Fart can mufflers
Carolina rake
Those obnoxious aftermarket Blue HID headlights
Colored halo headlights
Angry Jeep grilles
Rolling coal trucks
Exhaust stacks in the bed of pickups

In my former work, I had to drive (road test after a brake job) a Suburban that not only had these, but were somehow aimed a good 30 feet high at ~200 yards. Not only that, but it had "donk" wheels & tires on it, and brake dust shields that, when in place, only left three threads exposed on the wheel stud. Seeing this, I refused to put them back on. He wasn't too happy about it. There are lots of stories I could tell.

The ducks have diversified, I see them in more than just Jeeps now.
I used to say ducks aren't "a Jeep thing", they're mostly a New Jeep thing, and mostly a girl-new Jeep thing. Big Grin

Last time I looked (a couple years ago now), flash brake lights were a no no. But I see more and more of them.

Night before last I saw what I thought was either an ambulance or a tow truck coming down the road towards me, but they colors looked wrong. Turned out to be a Mexican food truck, flashing lights on all four corners. Roll Eyes

probably velcro or some other type of adhesive. My daughter gave me a Tenth Doctor plushie for my car so I just attached a piece of velcro to the back and attached it to the back of my infotainment screen which was plastic. But I just got another car and the dash is flat and all leather. I guess I can velcro him to the speaker grill?

Not minority enough!

Trashy assed shiny pickup plastic "chrome"
That's the cheapest looking thing on the planet on the front of full size pickups.

Those super wide wire wheel hubcaps. Has to be a hazard with the width, most look wide enough to technically require clearance lights. And they have to vibrate like crazy, no way you can spin balance it.

Found the photo, maybe the widest I've seen on the road here:
And on a Kia no less. Usually it's a Buick or cheap Cadillac.

Saw a video yesterday of a Cybertruck with these abominations on it. Not as wide as the Kia on pg 1, but still awful
