wolfe 21Christmas has started already...
So, I realize I'm probably late to the party. I work 7 days a week, so my trips out are limited to gas & groceries most of the time.
I found out today the fucking Christmas music has already started playing in my local retailers. It's too early for this shit. They barely finished clearancing the Halloween candy for fuck's sake.
I'm ready for March. Fuck this shit.
A Perpetual Disappointment...

P250UA5I was in a Lowes in Ardmore OK on election night. They were playing Christmas music already.
Handful of houses in my neighborhood have their lights on already.
I refuse to touch the Christmas boxes until at least the day after Thanksgiving.

selogicNone of our Christmas stuff is in the attic anymore . The wife made room for it in the bedroom closet so when the mood hits her she'll drag it out and start decorating . Minimal involvement from me .

CoolRich59I went in a store yesterday and they were blasting Christmas music. It was bizarre. Way too early.

Expert308I did my bi- or tri-monthly Costco run in early October, and they had all the Christmas stuff out then. Went grocery shopping 3 days ago. On the way home I saw city workers putting Christmas decorations up on lamp posts and trees. Flipped on the radio to find that the 24-hour Christmas music has started. I remember when they waited until about Dec 20th to do that.

I agree. I got my first dose of "retail Christmas music" in the Bass Pro store this morning. Ugh.

My "adopted sister" and I joke about this. There's a point, sometime in late November / early December, when the entire attitude turns to "get me the hell to February."

I'm not really a grinch, I just don't enjoy two entire months' worth of Christmas-music-on-repeat.

selogicNot a big fan of Christmas music myself . I like a few of the old traditional songs , but pretty much everything else sucks . Elvis , Burl Ives , Charles Brown , Jose Feliciano , nope ..nope .

PrefontaineThanks for the warning. Yep it’s that time of the year. The worst got damn time of the year for me. Not the most “wonderthul”. It has nothing to do with the father, the son, nor the Holy Spirit. It’s got damn marketing trying to get your dollars and that’s all it is. Wanna be festive? Go help someone out in need. That’s what Jesus would recommend. Not some stupid lights, music, wrapping paper, or that fat fuck with a white beard. The Matrix has you..
What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

PHPaulI haven't been subjected to the music, but a BUNCH of stores I drove by this morning have Christmas lights and decorations on the outside.
GMAFB, it's not even
THANKSGIVING yet!

vthokyYessir, you've got a point there. I'll correct it.
Get me the hell to January 21!

redwood25Lol, I'm on the opposite side of the coin. I love it! The lights are on the house, trees will be up soon, and Christmas music is playing! I love hearing it in the stores, too. The cheesier the better! I don't know why, but I love all of it. But to be fair, September is too early (which is when I first started seeing traces of it). But post-Halloween? BRING IT!!
OK. Back to your humbugs!

If you jump directly to January 21, you're going to miss two important days: my birthday, and January 20. You could jump to January 19 and catch the inauguration the next day. Or you could jump to January 10 and catch my 88th the next day.

drill sgtWas out today and while passing a large local plant nursery and saw someone tying down a Christmas tree to the roof of a SUV in the parking lot. .......Our tree has been up for the last 5 years in a front hallway out of the way without coming down.. Maybe add 1 or 2 ornimates thru out the year as the holiday dictates. .......... drill sgt.

AlyronWent out of town last week. Came home and wife had put up tree and all decorations. Looks like Xmas threw up in my house. Can't wait till Jan 1, when she puts it all away. But I have to admit it does make her more cheery seeing the decorations up. Happy Wife, Happy Life.

WolfpackerLast week I noticed so many homes with Christmas lights on. Two weeks before Thanksgiving.
Geeeez!!
November 22, 2024, 10:24 PM
Puckpilot78When I went to work at Love Field in Dallas on the 10th they had their Xmas stuff up, including the big tree in the main lobby. After thanksgiving I can handle, but not even halfway through November? Cmon man!

A good point again, Mr. V-Tail. By your math, I'd miss my own birthday, too.
Perhaps I can skip around a little? Bounce in and out of the calendar enough to enjoy the fun days, and to skip the hullabaloo?

That said, I think I'm going to build my Christmas tree out of a barrel stave tomorrow afternoon, much like this:
I'll be cranking up some not-Christmas music in the garage while I work.

God bless America.
