Gus and I like to share fried livers or gizzards once in a while. Today was the big day, till I found a few bright green liver parts in the tub. These were firm and the color of fresh grass scum from under the mower. 3 separate livers and between them about the size of my little finger.

No off smells the sell by date is Thursday. No way in hell I’m cooking them, though Gus is heartbroken and couldn’t give a damn, he smells them in the grocery bag I swear. So, anyone familiar with what I found?

Gallbladders. Not cleaned properly.

You can try rinsing off the green (bile), but I'd just toss those ones and eat the rest...if I still ate chicken livers...which I don't. I do freeze dry them and feed them to the dog though. He likes 'em.

{Potentially controversial statement follows:}

Presumably bad? Chicken livers are nasty to begin with. Yuck! Razz

With the right amount of seasoning, and fried "soft" they are good. If too long they are chalky and bitter, but you don't want them "too soft" (raw).

Best I have ever had are from "Danny's" chicken.

The group I used to work with (about 6 of us) would all head out to Kentucky Fried Chicken 1 day each week for gizzards and Livers. I used to really enjoy livers with their hot sauce spread over them.

No livers & gizzards for me! I will however take all the chicken hearts you have. LOVE those!
