The US Mint and the Trump Dollar
I posted this in another thread by PH Paul about the Trump Dollar but thought it deserved it's own thread here.

For all those who still want coins, keep an eye out in your change. The US Treasurer has said that the coin rolls will be available at US banks starting next month. Son of a bitch. I just bought 2 rolls for $140 from ecoins last week. Ninety dollars extra. God #@%&*!

Treasury shows off new Trump dollar coin, urges Americans to spend it at liberal coffee shops

I waited a month in the stupid belief that the Mint would make more coins available eventually before I broke down and bought two $25 rolls for $69.95 each. One for me and one to send to my Dad. I was glad I got them and accepted the price because I thought they weren't available any other way. Then I found the article linked above saying you just go to your bank next month and get them for face value. Mother F'r.

Yeah,

After missing out on PH Paul's generous efforts, I busted $75 on one that had the 4th of July privy mark.

If I find one of those rattling around in my pocket, I'll be good with it.

Five years from now that coin will barely be worth face value. Just can't see the intrigue.

Uhm, err.... they'll always be worth face value, they are legal tender just like any other dollar coin.

Actually, limited production coins become more valuable than face value pretty quickly. Not outrageously more valuable but it could be worth tens of dollars in a few years. Tens of dollars. I know I'm excited.

Seems like the chance of 1000 or 2000% return on an investment with no risk of losing the principal beats most anything I’ve run across! Just have to figure out where to store a couple hundred thousand coins safely (how heavy would that be?).

USMint.gov says the Trump dollar weighs 8.1g. That's 0.285719 ounces, so $100k would weigh 28,571.9 ounces, or 1,786 pounds.

Put it in the back closet to offset the one ton of ammunition in the front closet...

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

I think the only way these things will appreciate in value is when the next Democrat Congress takes all of them out of circulation.
