Yep, nobody wants anyone's stuff, maybe a few sentimental things that remind them of the family and the house, growing up.

I decluttered a few cabinets in the garage this past weekend, have a few more to clear, need to sell off some guns and thin the heard but waiting on a D POTUS to get max value! Big Grin

NEVER!

That's what kids and grandkids are for... Big Grin Razz

I was recently blessed/cursed with this...and it wasn't even a blood relative.

Wife's mother died a few years ago, wife's brother staying in the house and continued to "collect stuff"...plus he was on the spectrum and more than a bit paranoid

What might have started as "packrat-itis" became full blown hoarding over the years.

When he died "unexpectedly", late last year, cleaning out the house fell to me (being retired) Had a buddy helping me, who a later listed the house with to sell to a flipper.

Wearing "hazmat gear" and using a ionizer nightly, it took 5 refills of a 40 cubic yard dumpster to get the house (1500 sq ft) to the point were we could even list it. The only worth-while finds were a Ruger Speed-Six and a .40 SIG 239...that and $300 in loose coins. For that I had to deal with 3 break-ins and nightly visits from dumpster divers...I ended up hiring security during the evenings until the word got around that it wasn't easy pickings anymore

No, Daoism isn't a religion

Sorry to hear about that, General Tang.

Years ago I posted photos and a long story of my wife and her “good” brother having to evict the “evil” brother who was on meth from the family home on 1.6 acres in beautiful Sonoma County; he had collected 23 cars, 4 RV’s, 3 boats and a hot tub; after those were removed there were 20-something disposal bins that followed, plus an auction. Sheriff’s deputy said it was the worst he’d ever seen.

The table saw as rescued.

The saw after refurbishing.

Tore it completely apart, ran everything but the saw carriage and the motor through the electrolysis bath, scraped, sanded, primed and painted everything except the table. Cleaned and lubed everything on the carriage (raise and tilt mechanisms particularly) and checked all the bearings.

Spent a considerable amount of time de-rusting and refinishing the table: electrolysis, Evapo-rust, coarse rubbing compound and a buffer and finished with a good coat of paste wax. Still some staining and pitting, but slicker'n a school marm's ass otherwise. Did have to take a file and dress up the miter gauge slots a bit.

Finished reassembling it this afternoon, test drove it. Works fine. Does need a miter gauge but it's a generic 3/8 x 3/4 slot so pretty much anything will work. Got a really nice Biesemeyer fence on it, too bad it doesn't fit my saw...

Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.
