$163 on the average in the Shenandoah Valley. It's gone up a bit over the last few months but can't complain for a 2400 sq ft house at 72 day/ 71 night AC

Mine has stayed on average $150 a month because I signed up for GA Power to adjust my Nest thermostat during peak hours.

After 7:00 PM I can run the AC all night until. From 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM they set it to 75 to 77.

Y'all Texans and Californians prices are crazy. Haven't checked recently, but in VA we used to be 11-12¢. I'm having the lowest cost in many years, I don't think it topped $200 at all this year.

Mine doubled last month due to the AC being on all the time. It's down a little this month with the (slightly) cooler temperatures. Should be back to "normal" next month. Then winter will start to creep in and it'll start back up again. I pay between 8¢ and 10.5¢ per kWh based on summer vs "non-summer" and how much I use (use more, they charge more per kWh). Which seems kind of wrong, I mean, shouldn't they give a volume discount?

Don't lump us in with California. We can shop our rates, and last March I locked in 24 months at 10.9 cents per kwh.

Our problem this year isn't rate, but rather it's the hours of usage. We have had a heat wave and ran 6 or 8 degrees above our usual miserable summer temperature. August was the hottest month in recorded history for Houston. Also, night time "lows" were staying above 80 degrees so our ACs were running quite a bit at night too. On top of that, most of Texas had a drought so there were no cooler rainy days.

We've gone from 104 deg days to 92 -94 . I can tell my AC units are not running near as much . Should be a nice improvement in my bill .

I just received my notice from PG&E that electric rates would be rising this winter.

MidAmerican Energy in Iowa announced a 26% increase in residential electric rates for January 2024. No competition, so this winter will be interesting.
