shovelheadFB community pages
I know many here don’t like FB. To an extent it’s been mixed for me. Found a lot of people that I lost touch with over the years, a lot of groups for motorcycles, collector cars, memorabilia, etc. and a couple of members here. The local community groups, well I’m gong to dump a couple of them. While sometimes there are nuggets of information most of the time it’s becoming boo hoo, I made a boo boo, will you cry with me?
First to go, a couple of days ago there was a poster complaining about buying a used car from a used car lot probably fifty or sixty miles away, so first red flag does this person even live in the community?
The car, probably late 2000’s era Mustang. Two days after purchase, engine out. Sob story now forthcoming how “I just graduated from nursing school” “my dream car” “now the dealer won’t help me because I bought it as is” (well surprise!) and “now what do I do? I’m stuck with a dead car and a payment”
Well today’s answer, they start their own Go Fund Me page. To the credit of many posters the remark on poor financial decisions, understanding what you are signing, you should have had your own inspection, don’t buy a used car on emotion, etc., were made. But already they are about 33% of their goal of 5k!
Guess I’m just jaded but really? I’ll admit a couple of times to donating, but the GFM was for people I knew and it was due to circumstances beyond their control like a ex coworker that changed jobs and before his new insurance took effect he was involved in a crash and many expenses weren’t covered by his insurance.
We’ve all made poor decisions but damn, expecting strangers to bail you out?

GraniteguyPar for the course with many generations today.
The Go Fund Me craze is fascinating. I have never donated money or goods to anyone I did not know personally.

Fly-SigI've only ever given to a GFM type of fund raiser twice, and that was for individuals I know deserved it.
