Hey, if you enjoy it, great for you.

But I don't want it forced on me, and I don't want to see you do it in public.

U2 is a fantastic band, that I will never listen to new material from, after they forced themselves on the Iphone..

If I can opt-in to your service, great! If I have to opt-out.. fuck you.

Too many dead spots for cellular coverage here and I’m more or less midway between Detroit, Lansing, Ann Arbor and Flint. So that kind of eliminates Spotify and other streaming services.

So it’s either Sirius XM or the Lansing, Flint, Detroit market corporate owned stations or the local City’s FM which won’t even break into their broadcasts while the tornado sirens are going off, so much for local news coverage.

I can imagine the conversation between the DJ and anyone else in the studio while the sirens are going off. “Hey Ralph, you see that pickup truck flying in the air past us? Oh, forget it it’s time for more garbage 80’s music.”

I’ll take Sirius.

Sirius is a must for the Yoop. Radio stations here suck and cell service is spotty.
I am an XM/Sirius plank owner from back in the day when you had to have a do-dad mounted in your car to receive the signal. My only complaint is the yearly "renew at 30 bucks" dance you have to do with them in order to get the actual price.

To add to my comment about the sirens going off. Our county activates the sirens as a continuous wail during a severe thunderstorm warning or a tornado warning. While neither are something to take lightly I’d like to know (a) which warning it is (b) where it’s happening and (c) the likely path of the storm.

Last week’s event I turned on the scanner app to our county fire police and EMS and to a Detroit station (WXYZ TV) for live coverage and storm tracking. Probably all the while our local FM station was playing ABBA’s greatest hits for the umpteenth time.

My buddy got one while at CES the first year Sirius was there (before the merge).

Lifetime subscription of all channels, $150.

The agreement was pretty clear too, all channels with no caveats. Sirius needed the capital.

Also, applies to the owner, not the radio. Sirius tried that on him the second radio failure. He did a photocopy of the agreement, sent it in, and asked if a lawyer was needed. No reply and each radio works whenhe needs to switch.

I got SiriusXM again till mid July on my new car. And as I expected, I listen to two stations and they just play the same songs over and over that I went back to using my phone for music.

I have SiriusXM Guardian as well on trial until September. Then it's $230 a year! My BMW Connected App is free and does the same thing. The only thing the alfa app does that the bmw is remote start since the bmw didn't have factory remote start. I never used it in my previous cars so I'm probably going to not buy it in September.

In the past when I did use Sirius because my wife wanted it, I would buy a prepaid VISA card from the gas station and load enough money on it for a one year subscription, then throw it away so when it came time to cancel and they kept giving me the runaround, I would just hang up. They can try and bill the dead credit card.

Capital One credit cards (and maybe some others, as well) give you the ability to generate virtual credit cards that can be used for this purpose. The virtual card is tied to a single merchant, any attempt to use it for a different vendor will automatically be declined. You can lock or unlock the virtual card, or you can delete it. The card can be created with a lifespan of a few years, or it can be created as a one-time use card. I use them for all online payments.

We've shared frustrations with satellite radio pricing before.

Here is how I handle it.

1. Upon notification of the expiration of the current super monthly rate (usually about $9) I contact them by phone
2. I say that I cannot afford three vehicles of SiriusXM at the nominal rate, and regretfully must cancel
3. I wait for the clerk to look up my account and see that I have been a customer for many years. The clerk just looks up a super deal for me again, and asks if I want that deal.
4. I say sure, thanks for your excellent customer service, and pay for the next year in advance.

Retention is critical to this business. Get through the phone tree navigation to the retention expert clerks.

Never again. I bought their portable set years ago, to listen to at night at work. About 8 months later, they upgraded their service and my 400 dollar radio was no longer compatible-but I could buy another for 500 bucks that would work. Had a similar experience with TiVo. I'm now very cautious with subscription services.

The music channels all have shallow set lists which is frustrating.
The genres I listen to there should be no reason that I hear a song twice during my 10 hours shift. Let alone over a few shifts.

I listen to one show on the Catholic Channel and that is what keeps me. It’s worth $6 a month.

Music needs come through my $2.99 Pandora subscription.

Gus Lloyd, I'd guess? He's pretty good. I try to catch a few minutes of him in the mornings on my way to work.

I have The Bridge, 70s, 80s, Classic Rewind, Classic Vinyl, and a couple country stations programmed in. Don't listen to anything else. Like several here, there ain't much for OTA radio in my neck of the woods, so Sirius is a necessity.

Correct.
The Busted Halo Show is good too but I am rarely somewhere to listen when it is on.
I need to do a better job of using the app to listen to previously recorded shows.

Classic Rewind
Yacht Rock
Mom Jeans
The Message

Are my most played music stations.

It came free when I bought my car in 2012, but I never bought extensions, they only had one or two classical music stations and that's all I listen to these days.

You’ll probably laugh at me but one of my favorites is the 40’s Channel.

I use Spotify, which sounds like something a woman should be concerned about..

I finally reached a human. I said listen man, I know you have a job to do. It's not about you. I'm angry at your stupid company and I hope all the satellites fall from orbit. In a nice polite tone.

Cancelled and added to their no contact list, and the fellow sounded relieved .

We've had SiriusXM since we bought our Jeep in 2016. My wife and I both like it. Listen to it in the Jepp.....Ozzy's Boneyard for me, 70's channel when my wife is with me.

My wife has the app on her Ipad and listens to it through a bluetooth speaker when she's in the shower, dressing, etc.

I listen to it via bluetooth in my police vehicle when working.

It was offered to me for a free trial when I bought my vehicle. Never listened to it.

I have a subscription to Audible and listen to books through my Sync 4. Keeps me going.

I had Sirius fron 2002 until 2009. Now I use iHeartRadio. Much better selection of music and options to set favorites. I only use the free version.

I’ve been stringing them along on $6 deal for over year. It’s just okey. Too much obscure music, too much base, too many adds on some channels, the political talk seems slanted left. The comedy channels are the best part aside from not having to channel surf while traveling.
