I shipped a medium flat rate box containing 22 lbs of brass from Texas to California. He got it in 3 days, the day after Christmas. Another went to Tennessee and got there in 2 days, the day before Christmas. They ain't all bad. | |||

Ordered an item from United Kingdom (UK). My package has been getting “frequent flyer miles”. I contacted the USPS Customer Service folks to find out what the story is about these multiple routings. They blamed it upon the Customs Declaration form on the package, with the “From” being misread as “To”, and they (USPS) keeps trying to “return to sender” back in the UK. Uh-huh, yeah right. I guess they can’t read too. Will see if it makes it to me now, even though it has already been thru my hometown district center one week ago. Well this is great, just checked my shipping progress and can see that my book left the SAINT LOUIS MO NETWORK DISTRIBUTION CENTER on December 15th and then came back to SAINT LOUIS MO DISTRIBUTION CENTER on the Dec 28th - yesterday, so my book has been riding around somewhere in Missouri for 13 days and then goes back to the distribution center for a 2nd time. I dealt with many from this facility after they stumbled out of the local bar during their liquid lunches. No wonder it got lost. Recently sent three packages USPO and received one. All of a sudden they are back to normal with three day lengths for NJ packages to and from NH. Guess everyone got better all of a sudden. | |||

I was supposed to have received something back on the 8th, about a day before it was scheduled to arrive USPS Tracking changed the listing to ‘In Transit’. It is claimed to be late, but still in transit. How, on foot? And they don’t indicate just exactly where in transit it is, just that it’s in transit. I have checked the listing every morning to see if the status has changed. Upon the suggestion of Forum members I ordered some horseradish via Amazon Prime. When it finally arrived the package looked as if it had been run over by a large truck. There was broken glass inside the large envelope and horseradish oozing through the bubble wrap. Another order ensued. Alas, delivery attempted could not access location. A phone call to USPS revealed that the parking lot was too small. {We have had trouble with semitrucks parking in the lot for a rest}. The USPS cannot even lie on the level of a fourth grader. | |||

These guys have it worse than any of us. Largely poor people on South Side of Chicago. CHICAGO — Residents in several South Side neighborhoods said they have not received mail in at least a week, leading many to face long lines at the post office waiting for their mail. Tamika Elujoba is one of many who stand in line at the post office for mail every day, and has had inconsistent delivery for months. “They say my mail carrier’s on vacation but since Thanksgiving, all through Christmas and New Year’s,” Elujoba said. Elujoba waited nearly three hours for mail in a line that circled around the corner of 77th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. “I don’t know what’s going on with the postal system, but something needs to be done,” Japelyn Henderson said, who has not received mail in nine days. The local union president said there are not enough postal carriers, leading to irregularities in delivery. He added that the union is working with the Postal Service to get more people hired. Customers who experience service issues are encouraged to contact their local postal station. Chicago customers can call the Consumer Affairs number at 312-983-8403. Additionally, all customers can go to the Postal Service’s website and click on “Contact Us” at the bottom of the homepage.
