Or some other GOP luminary. I get three or four most days. I always select “Delete and report junk”. I hope that ruins the fake phone number that they used, but the scam texts keep coming. Do you folks get these too? A scam text that just arrived: “From Trump: CAN I ADD YOU TO THE FINAL TRUMP DONOR LIST? It just takes $10. 45 SPOTS REMAIN: win-gop.co/wy6dfv Stop2End” Stop2End my ass. I know better. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Pipe Smoker, Serious about crackers

It’s bad. 4-6 times per day I’m doing the same thing. Delete and report junk. These mother fuckers probably have tens of thousands of phone numbers because I can’t shake them. I tried to figure out how to get the got damn phone to not do a sms alert unless it’s in my contact list. I googled, did what it said, and it still does it. Presidential election, state elections, it’s driving me out of my got damn mind. I would legit call it harassment. Someone needs to take these fuckers to court and put them behind bars. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

My phone does a good job of snagging 'spam' texts. It's slowed down a bit, but it was flagging 4-8 per day, all political in nature. 60 from late August to yesterday. 14 in the last week. The Enemy's gate is down.

I agree. The political robotexts are a pain. Also consider the fact that it could be phishing or posers, since the number is not known to you and not authenticated. NEVER click on the link! I never assume or expect that they are who they are implying or representing themselves to be. They never stop coming in after you reply "Stop." Face it, you know what you might contribute in money and/or information, voluntarily or involuntarily, would never be enough. In fact, they would likely sell or share your information to others, and you would get more. It is "The Trouble with Tribbles." If you have the time, and are motivated to get a pound of flesh, copy the message and number and file a formal complaint with the FCC. Here is some good information: https://www.fcc.gov/sites/defa...ocalls_and_texts.pdf Otherwise just filter, block and delete. ______________________________________________________________ Common sense is no longer simply uncommon. The simple solution is never pay out for any cause that YOU did not initiate the connection, including phone, email, text or web link. Just ignore the rest.

Trump, JD Vance, Ted Cruz... don't know which are "real" and which are scams, but I get one about every 45 minutes. And 10-15 emails a day.

I get anywhere from 6 to 10 per day, each and every day! "Delete and report junk" does absolutely NOTHING as far as I can tell! _____________________________ Bill R. North Alabama

They're probably spoofing random numbers, I'd guess. So you're likely not blocking the actual number it's originating from. At least, that seems to be the case with the telemarketers. Not sure if the political PACs & such use the same methods. The Enemy's gate is down.

I just tried an experiment. I called the number that a scam text displayed. The result: Four rings then the call terminated. Apparently that’s how the perps find unused numbers. Serious about crackers

I don't get junk texts anymore, and I think I got one spam call in the last two years. When I dumped my smartphone years ago and switched to a flip-style one (voice and texts only), I changed my phone number and only gave the number to family, friends, and in rare instances, people who really need it (doctor, dentist, etc). I use my previous phone number when buying online, my banks, car repair, stores, and political contributions. Any vendor or company asking for a phone number, they get this one. Though not as strict, the same with my email address, and I also use a "burner" email address for most commercial stuff. Staring back from the abyss |
You think the political ones are bad, try getting on "the list" for professional recruiters. A colleague used me for a reference awhile back at a locums agency and now I get at least half a dozen recruiting texts and phone calls per day, every day, and sometimes at night from every mother fucking agency out there. Delete, report junk, and block. There's a finite number of numbers. Eventually I'll get every one of them bastards. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

^^^^ Didn’t you read my link? Just use that method (if you use an iPhone). It filter spam texts into the “Unknown Senders” box, leaving your “Known Senders” box clean. Then occasionally do a “select all” and delete in the “Unknown Senders” box. Serious about crackers

Yep, they still show up on the home screen as banners and occasionally will alert (ring), and I still have to bother with deleting them. I've tried using "Contacts Only", but ended up missing important calls/texts, like others, that weren't in my contacts. Congress could solve this problem with the stroke of a pen, but there's too much money involved. Yes, there should be a law. !. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

I got something like 15 or 20 of these texts yesterday. Usually at least 6 or 8 a day. I delete every one of them. Blocking the numbers is a waste of time. _________________________ 2nd Amendment Defender The Second Amendment is not about hunting or sport shooting.
