armoredTrouble justifying $1,000
I would guess that in this application its all about the motor.

vthokyNot to be argumentative, but I’d say it’s as much about the fan blades as the motor. The motor has to be quiet, efficient, and reliable. The blades to the actual moving of air.
On the Element (discontinued, I believe) and ISIS (unfortunately named, we always thought) models, BAF made a huge deal out of the blade (foil) design; we ran tests with a number of different designs.
Back on topic: I agree, a kilobuck is a LOT of money for a ceiling fan.

Similarly, changing a propellor can make a noticeable difference in airplane performance.

gpbst3Yeah, that price difference does not justify the cost difference. Maybe if it had some great warranty but it's only a 3 yr warranty for exterior use.

Just fire up a GoFundME.
(I'm joking, I just read the Corey Harrison thread)
