When reassembling my 938 the barrel will lock up tilted. It takes some force to release it so it Hat it is centered for reassembly. The gun otherwise is 100% reliable. Is this normal?

Spoke with SIG customer service, and was told what is happening is normal on a 938.

It is normal. After you reinstall the spring, just apply a little pressure to the barrel hood and it should snap right into alignment.
