Three Generations of Service |
I recently gave in to a long-standing urge to own a semi-custom 1911 and bought a Kimber Elite. I'm happy with my purchase but I'm left-handed and an ambidextrous safety would be a huge improvement. I know enough to know this is not a project I should attempt myself, but I'd like to know at least a little about what all is involved in the conversion so I'm not completely ignorant when shopping for a gunsmith to do the job. Thanks for any input. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent. | ||

In simple terms, pulling the old, pushing a frame plug out, and installing the new ambi safety. With an ambi you’ll get a new level on the left side paired to a new one on the right. I might make the first call to Kimber. Atlas Gun works has some decent videos about it that will give you an idea of what it involves. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0ow84xh6K7I https://www.egwguns.com/hd-ambi-thumb-safety-ss Do not send me to a heaven where there are no dogs.
