The Magna-Tip I use for the purpose as a backup is the 340-6. Its width and thickness are virtually a perfect fit. I say “backup,” though, because the best screwdriver for the P220 and P226 grip screws is the screwdriver of the SIG armorer combination tool, as sold here:

Not only are the width and thickness correct, the end is rounded to fit the curved slot in factory grip screws. The Brownells bit fits the screw slot, but it’s straight rather than rounded and does not completely match the curved cut of the screw slot.

6.4/93.6

The late model Sig Armorer Tool bit is straight across its tip without a convexity or radius, like the original Tool. The Magna-tip bit edges are also very sharp making it easy to mar the blueing in the screw slot. I fabricated a convex tip and highly polished the face and chamfered the edges ever so slightly to use without leaving tracks.

Ah, too bad. That curved tip of the screwdriver was the only reason I ended up with two of the original tools.

I agree, though, that the Magna-Tip bit must be used carefully to avoid marring something.

For years to minimize damage I've used a screw driver tip that allowed a small cleaning patch between the tip and screw head, slotted, phillips, torx does not matter.
