les45P229R E2 40 cal grip screws (?)
Does anyone know if the newer Hogue Extreme grip screws for the P226/228/229 fit a P229R E2 model in 40 cal? I'm changing out the E2 grips for the old style two piece grips but I need to buy grip screws for the change. I know there is a difference in the screw size between the 9mm and 40 cal but the Hogue package doesn't mention that difference. Sig currently lists screws for the 9mm but nothing for the 40 cal.

NontypicalThis pic shows the P228/229 screws are just a hair longer.

I've seen that pic but it doesn't tell me anything about the Hogue screws.

Mustang-PaPaI just sent Ken@Hogue an email. He as always should be along shortly unless he is out of office.

Ken @ Hogue IncThanks PaPa
We do not have a .40 Cal in our stable BUT, we have seen stranger things done on frames, our experts do not believe this would be any different than a 9mm.
Screw, thread, dia, length. Other change to the frame, yes maybe but the screw bushings, no.
with all that said, we do move alot of these screws with very few returns.
For $20.00+/- it could be worth the gamble. If you have an issue you can return for refund, less s/h
Further info;
"Do not use the stock star washers UNLESS the screws hit the magazine" Hogue grips are designed to NOT use the washer
"Fits 9mm, .40S&W, and .357 Sig.
Hogue grips will fit 229 E2, remove E2 grips to expose the screw holes. Grip screws should be torqued to 13-15 inch lbs. Blue loctite is suggested on the threads. A quality correct fitting 3/32" hex / Allen or slot driver is a must!"
Hope this helps

Ken, this is not what I was told when I called you customer support line and spoke to someone regarding you P232 wrap-around grips. I was told that you grips are designed to be used with the firearm’s existing hardware.

les45Turns out the Hogue grips screws are a moot point for my issue. I found the correct factory screws in one of my old parts drawers. They are the short ones shown on the far left in the previous post pics. They are like new and fit the two piece grips perfectly.
