Just Hanging Around |
I have a 522 that I bought back in early 2010. I’ve put probably around 2000 rounds through it, and it’s been living in the back of the safe for several years. I heard about the upgrade kit, but I never did anything about it, and now it’s too late. I had it out a few days ago, and my grandson spotted it. Now he thinks he needs to give it some love at the range. Since I never did the upgrade, I wanted to see if Sig would do anything, so it wouldn’t give him any trouble. I called customer service, and the only way they’ll do anything is if I send the rifle to them. Some of the stories I’ve heard about Fed Ex and UPS, make me a little nervous about doing that. So anyway, to shorten the story, I was wondering about getting my big soldering iron out, and putting a little solder on the rod, and E clip, on the end that goes in the bolt. The other end doesn’t seem to have a problem. Is there any reason I shouldn’t try this? Will the solder stick to the guide rod? Seems this might be an easy fix if it would work. | ||
