A pal has a SIG Rattler Canebrake. Really cool pistol. It has a fake suppressor on the barrel. He has tried to remove it in anticipation of the arrival of his actual suppressor with no success. Is this attached with Loctite or Rock-set? He thought of me because he knew I have a heat gun that would breakdown Loctite. Can anyone confirm that heat would be the right approach to remove the fake can before applying a wrench?

They are not attached with any type of locking agent, just torque. It will take a significant amount of effort to break it loose. If you don't have a Bev Block or reaction rod modified for the MCX barrel extension, try clamping the gas block in a vise. Just be sure to pad the vise so you don't scratch up the gas block.

Thank You! Put a full size 7/8" wrench on it and it did come loose. No visible loctite remains just very tight, likely due to taper.This message has been edited. Last edited by: bettysnephew,

Yeah, the taper lock is pretty strong. They say it takes approximately 3 times the torque to remove as was used to apply.
