Trigger reach and small hands.
I'm a lady shooter, 5'1 1/2" and have small hands. I find the trigger reach on my Sig 228 to be uncomfortable. I'm confused about most trigger enhancements since there's not a lot of feedback from women and/or folks with small hands using this gun. Is there a better trigger than the standard that would be more comfortable?

A classic “short reach” trigger would probably help. The picture shows that that model is thinner from front to back. When I shot the Classic line pistols I usually had short reach triggers installed. The difficulty now would be finding one, but perhaps through ebay—?

I have also found that straight triggers work better for me.

I of course can’t guarantee that either would eliminate the difficulty you have, but if you’re desperate enough they might be worth a try.

I don’t have a 228 to compare, but does anyone know if E2 grips for the 229 would fit? That might help trigger reach if they fit.

I think you would be better served by going to a large gun store and handling more handguns.
Many times you are just chasing your tail if trying to get a handgun that does not fit your hand to work for you.
Its very hard to shoot a handgun that does not fit your hand, especially if you plan to draw that gun from a holster for self defense.

I have small hands. I used to own a 228, a 220, a 245 and a 239. The only one I could actually shoot worth a hoot was the 239. The others were all just too big around for me to get a good hold on. I tried the short triggers and the E2 grips. Both helped - a little - but still in order to pull the trigger through on that first round I had to shift the gun around in my hand to get the required leverage on the trigger, and that made the subsequent shots more difficult. I eventually sold all 4 guns.

I'm a 5'2" male with small, fat hands....I've played the same game as you, many times (and failed) ....IMO, Mr.Experts308s advice is sound. Best wishes, mike

If you can't find the thinner "short reach" trigger, most any competent machinist or gunsmith could reshape your existing trigger by removing metal from the face of the trigger to reshape it. Whatever overtravel there is could also be taken out by heating and bending the trigger back. This would eliminate the overtravel while also moving the trigger arm further back.

Before going to any of the aforementioned steps, you'd no doubt want to determine if the limited amount of shorter reach would be enough to have you comfortable with it.
