ADLRemoving stripped P320 XCompact rear sight mounting screw.
"When one finds himself in a hole, the best thing to do, is stop digging."
I "screwed up."
What is the best tool/way, to go about unscrewing myself?
Thank you!

GaryBFAbsent any photos or additional information, I suggest sending the slide back to the factory.

ADLI get it, send it back?
I can't be the only one who's done this before?...Figured it would be a "simple fix."
Thought there would be a mini-drill bit, or something to drill into the screw and reverse the screw out?
Just the head of the screw is stripped.
Was putting a lot of pressure on it. Thought it was turning slowly...It was not. - Just stripping the head.
So I figure really bear down on it, it was just the thread locker being difficult?...Nope. - Completely reamed...

ADLI am talking about the two screws that hold the rear sight and the optic plate on. They are on the under-side of the slide.

Similar to the P365X and XL.
Apparently, SIG uses thread locker on those, so you need to apply heat before trying to remove them.
I know, a bit late for you.
Small drill and screw extractor is pretty much your only option; any decent gunsmith or machinist should be able to do it if you don't feel up to it.

ADLThanks,
I appreciate the thought. Still trying to find an extractor small enough, that is in stock...
Tried heating and tapping with a larger bit, to get a bite but no deal...
There's always that one screw, that is a real mother fff...

ADLIs SIG-Certified Armorer Chris Orndorff out there?
What would an armorer do in this situation?

P320 XCompact
I have had some success forcing a Torx bit into stripped out allen heads.
The Torx has thinner "fins" that allow it to bite into the edges of the hole and gain purchase.
Clamp the slide into a padded vise so you can have something solid to hammer against, and don't forget to heat the screw head up first.
Good luck!

ADLThank you!
Probably just going to take it to a smith.
Should be faster and cost about the same as buying a bit and trying to drill it out.

If you want to ship the slide to me I’ll do it no-charge.
Just pay shipping both ways, although that will probably come to the same as what a local ‘smith will charge.
Your call.

dominoI am not sure what size fastener you are having an issue with. I went to a hobby shop and they sell drivers that are machined and are a much better fit and they usually have metric as well as standard sizes. If you have a tight hex screw that is small this is definitely the way to go. It might not help you now, but in the future.

ADLGentlemen,
Thank you all for your assistance!
Sent it back to Sig today for another issue and they said they would take care of this as well.
You pay a good bit up front but they sure seem to stand behind it.

rmfnlaExcellent!
And if they screw it up they will probably have one to replace it with.
