davemercermodification of slide stop on P226 - 40 caliber
I have a P226 in 40 caliber. My thumb has tendency to jump up in recoil and lock slide open with rounds in the magazine. I know better technique, but I am also looking for a modification of the pistol. I have heard/read of two ideas
1. Make the slide stop smooth on outside so your thumb will slip over and not catch and push up
2. Cut slide stop down so there is little to engage with thumb, but part actually locking slide back remains.
I would appreciate any experiences you have had or seen with either of these approaches or other ideas. thanks.

davemercerSteve,
Thanks for reply. What did you use to cut? I was thinking of cutting disc on Dremel tool.
You mentioned you did this modification on P220. I have a P220 and in many thousands of 45acp basic ball ammo or similar reloads never had lock back with rounds in mag. Strange. Thanks again for reply.
