I built a FrankenSig from a P228 parts kit and a P229 DAK frame. After figuring out I had to use the P228 trunnion it all went together beautifully! I used Wolff Gunsprings. The slide was missing most of the original coating so we just went with the original corrosion prevention and polished it until I got a chance to coat it. It's one of my most favorite pistols I have. Crazy reliable and very accurate. Took it to a shooting class a couple months after finishing it up and had a great time! Has anyone else done one of these builds?

I put the DA/SA parts in it instead of the DAK parts. I'm trying to post a picture of it. Double Action Kellerman... why did they do that? I found it awkward. Why fix something that isn't broke?

Seriously, nobody here has done a Frankensig? Don't get me wrong, I never once had a chance to buy a P228 parts kit before and never since so I figure it's kind of rare. Reason I ended up doing it was I was called out by my buddy at work for being a huge Sig fan but never building one myself. I had always bought used law enforcement trade-ins because they were affordable and always included night sights and holster wear, which I like, but didn't figure I could afford to do a build. Low and behold, Dad (also a huge fan) found the parts kit on either Centerfire Systems or CDNN? ... and here we are.

The only Sig building that I have done have been with Sig’s 320s and P365s. While my classic Sigs in DA/SA remain some of my favorites pistols to shoot, I’ve never picked up parts to build one. I have done some upgrades and had a few worked on by Bruce Gray. I am not able to see the pics at the link you posted and would love to see your FrankenSig.

It's not real pretty but the internals are smooth as glass. I did the SRT and Wolff gunsprings upgrades, short draw trigger, P229 E2 grip kit and Trijicon Night sights.

Unfortunately, the Armorer's Section doesn't get a lot of views.

I built up a P226 using a slide I bought off of ebay and stripped frame and parts from Matrix Precision Arms.

I've noticed more Class P-series slides available on ebay since Sig Sauer has started selling optic ready slides on its website. I've surmised that people will buy an optic ready slide from Sig and then sell their old slide on ebay to offset part of the cost.

Matrix Precision Arms has a number of stripped classic P-series aluminum frames available. Some are even in the old style (pre-accessory rail). They also have quite a selection of internal parts.

Cool!  Would love to see it.  I haven't seen any P226 Frankensig's yet.  I've got a P226 W.German slide with internals but haven't had a chance to put it together yet.  Hopefully I can fit it to my old W.German P226 and set it up for some fun at the range with a comp or something.
