I have a 9mm threaded barrel that fits in the 357/40 Elite slide. Lock up is good and there is no rattle of any kind. Question is, can I fire it? Will it be safe? Is the 357/40 slide different than a 9mm slide? I have a regular 226 slide that I would have to have the 9mm fit to, but is it worth the trouble to fit the barrel to that slide or just put the 9mm barrel into the Elite and fire away/ Thansk==ks More than a few, less than others!

Yes. The 9mm slide does differ from a 357/40 slide in the overall weight and the breech face diameter , however, it is safe to shoot. Your 357/40 magazines will feed 9mm ammunition. You may, or may not, need to use a 9mm recoil spring.

I was hoping to here that. It makes sense that I would need to use the 357/40 mags. The 9mm mags when cycling by hand, won't lock the slide open. It appears the follower on the 9mm mags seen either short or don't stick out far enough. Thanks for the reply. More than a few, less than others!

My 9 mm mags function flawlessly in my converted P226.

So, the 9mm barrel works well. No slide lock on last round though. But it shoots just fine. Thanks! More than a few, less than others!
