Hi all, I've got a 1994 P228 that I've installed a P229 E2 grip onto (including swapping out the hammer seat/strut and trigger bar spring). I installed a Wolff 18# mainspring (part number 32418) and was experiencing light strikes. Ordered a 20# spring (PN 32420) and when I tried to install it, it wouldn't fully seat in the plastic hammer seat, so when reassembled, the mainspring is at full compression immobilizing the action. The 18# spring fits and functions just fine (except for the light strikes). Wolff said their spring diameters are in spec and to call Sig. Sig said it's an aftermarket spring and they won't comment on it and that I should post here for some help. Did I get a dud spring? Do I need a new mainspring seat? Something else I haven't thought of?

I have always had good luck with Wolff springs, but this looks like their error. Send them the OD measurements of the two springs, explaining that the larger one won't fit the mainspring seat? Good luck and keep us posted please. And if you can't get satisfaction from Wolff, contact me as I might have a 20# spring you can have. __________________ "Owning a handgun doesn't make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician." -Jeff Cooper
