How different are Sig barrels? Login/Join

Besides caliber of course, has anyone carefully tried to see if say, a 226 barrel would function in a 228 except stick out the muzzle a bit? I ask because I'm looking for a .357 barrel for my 239. Could a 250 barrel work? Or maybe a 229? Just wondering, not making a statement. I realize most won't, like a 365 barrel would not work in a 226. But some of the basic and older sigs are pretty close inside.
Thanks!
Dave

No, P226 barrel will not fit in the P228. Locking lugs are different, and so are the locking inserts. Only the original P229(9) and the P228 barrels are interchangeable, because they are identical.
