When removing / replacing Sig sights what is direction to do so? Left to right?

I have a P226. "Sig Sauer, Inc. Exeter - NH - USA" Begin of Ser # UU 69.

Using a brass punch I have unable to more either front or rear sight at all. I had no issue replacing the sights on a newer Pro Cut slide.

If you were to guess if I purchase a good sight pusher tool would it work with the older P226?
