jumbeauxP220 SS Extended Slide Release
Does SIG offer an Extended Slide Release for the SS P220 ? My Arthritis has worsened & I am having serious issues releasing the Slide. If they offer an Extended version does it require Fitting ? Thank you !

armoredI bent the slide release lever outward so I could get a better purchase on it when needed.I also cut the grip back so I had more finger room to get at it.
I did this on my P220ST.

4MUL8RHave you considered NOT using the slide catch lever except for field stripping?
Most pistoleros use the slide movement to the rear as the way to drop the catch lever downward under its own spring pressure, thereby allowing the slide to move smartly forward.
If you are reassembling after field stripping, you can also do this, but modify your maneuver to depress the slide catch lever as the slide moves forward.

nhracecraftYup, it's a 'Slide Catch', NOT a 'Slide Release'! Drawing the Slide rearward, commonly referred to as the Slingshot Method, is the best way to release the Slide. This method is referenced in the p220 Owner's Manual, and has the added benefit of eliminating any potential wear of the Slide Catch Notch on the Slide as well as the softer Slide Catch Lever. Such wear can and does occur when one uses the method of depressing the Slide Catch Lever to 'drop the slide' excessively/exclusively.
If you must have an Extended Slide Catch Lever, I know the X5/X6 Pistols had one, where the Lever was essentially bent outwards as was indicated in the post by 'armored'. That part 'may' work in a P220 SS, but no guarantee. You would do best to identify SIG P220 Pistols that were outfitted w/ an Extended Slide Catch Lever from the factory, identify the Part # and see if you can source one. Top Gun Supply and Midwest Gun Works are excellent sources.
