I propose a solution that would make honest people happy and contribute to the issues with the crazies:

Get rid of most of the existing gun laws. Only honest people follow them. Criminals, by definition, don’t care.

Disband the BATF and use their 1.7 billion budget to fund mental health care.

Radical I know but more “common sense” gun restrictions don’t seem to be an answer. At least they haven’t worked yet

I would support that proposal. We closed the state hospitals in the 1970s and provided NOTHING for the severely mentally ill. Sure there were the community mental health centers but they were not adequately funded. The WSJ had an article this week about the coming Pandemic of Mental Illness.

I suggest getting a book from local Library, titled: "Why Meadow Died".

It details a complete look at the decrease in Mental Health screening in nationwide schools during and following the Obama years.

The way of the world:

Leftists demand to close state hospitals and free "non-violent" patients.

Former state home patients become homeless people because they cannot keep a steady job or residence because they are not sane.

Leftists demand we "do something" about the homeless, and throw money at shelters.

Homeless don't get any better because they are not sane, and nothing is being done to medicate them properly.

Leftists allow tent cities of homeless that are not sane, and also chronic drug addicts.

Homeless do not improve because the leftists enable their behavior by providing free drug paraphernalia and still no proper care for the mentally ill

Leftists allow urban areas become open cesspools, businesses close due to lack of business from paying customers.

And so on...

It all starts and ends with good parenting from a Dad and a Mom in the household.
Not guns, gun laws.
Mental health whatever, better LE training and coordination are just Band-Aids.

So in summary, everything leftists touch turns to crap. Couldn't agree more.

As to the Ops proposal, it sounds reasonable which means the left would never agree with it.
