New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) is pushing $550 in fees for law-abiding citizens who want to own and carry a gun for self-defense.
The New York Times reports that Murphy’s desired increase in fees is “20 times as much” as fees are today.

Currently, “a firearm identification card costs $5, while a permit to own a firearm is $2. A permit to carry a gun costs $20.” Murphy’s proposals would raise the cost to a point where the firearm identification card would be “$100, an owner’s permit would be $50 and a carry permit $400.”

Breitbart News reported that Gov. Murphy signed a “high capacity” magazine ban that took effect in New Jersey on December 11, 2018. The ban immediately turned owners of such magazines into fourth degree felons.

As the ban took effect New Jersey State Police hesitated to rule out door-to-door enforcement, but eventually made clear that had no plans to search homes for magazines holding more than ten rounds.

Weeks after the ban took effect Breitbart News reported that no New Jersey residents had surrendered their “high capacity” magazines.

I am sure many New Jersians would gladly pay the $400 for a concealed firearms carry permit, but they just are not issued to the average person. As far as the 10 round magazine ban, the fact that no one turned in any of these no felonis magazines, demonstrates that the populous doesn't agree with these liberal, progressive, socialist, communist democrats and their draconian laws. Firearms restrictions aside, I still remain shocked that the people of New Jersey continue to vote in these out of touch sewer rat scum bags! Maybe one of you democrats out there can help me understand the attraction to keep voting for these POS's?? Not to mention NJ has the highest real estate taxes in the nation.....

I pulled this directly from the ACLU website:

"Voter ID laws deprive many voters of their right to vote, reduce participation, and stand in direct opposition to our country’s trend of including more Americans in the democratic process. Many Americans do not have one of the forms of identification states acceptable for voting. These voters are disproportionately low-income, racial and ethnic minorities, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Such voters more frequently have difficulty obtaining ID, because they cannot afford or cannot obtain the underlying documents that are a prerequisite to obtaining government-issued photo ID card."

So why can't we throw this at them with these draconian gun laws? The 2A is just as much a fundamental right as voting, so it should be easy to quash these barriers to self defense as discriminatory to the above classes of people.

Because the ACLU is anti-gun. The Second Amendment is not a American Civil Liberty. I believe that states should be able to place such restrictions. But, it has to apply to voting, the First Amendment, all across the board with no exemptions for the media, law enforcement, Congress, etc and not just the Second Amendment. Let's see how long they pull that shit when it applies to everyone. The problem just solves itself.

I was VERY shocked to see the ACLU oppose the social media password bills in NY and IL. None of the liberals and aspiring Marxists grasp the fact that any encroachment on one right has a future consequence in regard to whatever rights they do cherish. “Liberals” now are strong proponents of censorship and literally shredding the Constitution (a it suits them).

Let's hope this anti-second amendment pro-tax lunatic Phil Murphy can somehow be defeated at the polls next election.

I don't understand why anyone cares about the fee for concealled carry in NJ. With the number of permits issued the fees generated probably couldn't buy a car, a cheap car.
