Another sweeping gun ban from the prick government in NM. This one doesn't even have the balls to outright say it's a ban. It will prevent the transfer of basically any semi-automatic and magazine over 10 rounds. It also places very strict requirements on dealers. This is all supposedly to combat illegal gun trafficking. This is yet another instance where they try to get a blatantly illegal law in place, then use our money to defend it (and hopefully lose) in federal court.

Our current governess seriously needs to GTFO of NM.

I heard some stores in NM have sold all their inventory of semi autos. Once the House passes it, the Governor will run to sign it with as much fanfare as possible. Several Democrats have said it was unconstitutional but they were going to vote for it anyway. They know it will take time for the courts to overturn it but by then the desired damage will be done. Sad times for New Mexico.

The only good thing about this bill is that it's so short; they aren't even trying to hide the bullshit in 50+ pages of garbage.

I have good memories of the nine years I lived in New Mexico from the late 70’s to the late 80’s.

But the actions of their state legislature and the Executive office, as much as I dislike much of what Michigan does makes me glad that we left there when we did.

To me Governor Lujan-Grisham’s thwarted ban on both open carry and CPL in 2023 was the moment that nothing could surprise me that would come from The Roundhouse, aka the state Capitol.

Luckily, this state has a 2-term limit on governors (or governesses). Unfortunately, after they are out of office for one term, they can run again.

But, she’s making a play for The White House in 2028. She was trying for the VP seat until her 2020 performance during Covid and her husband and his wanting their personal boat out of storage ahead of others and saying “My wife is the Governor”

Phew! Senate bills SB17 and SB261 died in committee and the session has ended. Good job by everyone calling the legislators. I am sure it will be reintroduced for next years 60 day session where they will have more time but for now a sigh of relief.

That’s one thing that I liked about the part time Legislative sessions. The other ten months of the year we were somewhat protected from stupidity.

And to an extent when the Legislators were done in Santa Fe they were “usually” back in their home districts and had to face the voters in person.

Ours definitely wants the Oval Office, she’d never be content with a lowly Cabinet post or an Ambassadorship, too power hungry.
