These assholes in Santa Fe just won't quit. It bans nearly every design of semi-automatic firearm, bans nearly anything that can increase the rate of fire (bump stocks, binary triggers, etc.) includes a standard capacity magazine ban, and creates a registry. Love it.

I feel your pain. Good luck and keep up the pressure on your reps.
Sooner or later these idiotic laws will get stricken down in higher courts for the unconstitutional garbage that they are.

HB 279 was originally written by "everytown".org for Sen. Hienrich about 2 years ago.
Hienrich and another communist try to introduce in DC, but no luck. Hienrich and Grisham were behind the anti-2a last year too.
These democrats are paid by these outside interest groups to push their agenda.
We need a honest election.

True about it being written elsewhere. The 5 ladies who sponsored the bill don’t possess the intelligence needed to craft such a complex bill. They are the governors ‘chicas’ and blindly follow any thing the governor requests. It has been sitting in the Senate Finance committee for a while but they could bring it to the Senate floor at anytime.

While SB279 is in committee, House Bill 12 (HB 12), recently passed by the New Mexico Senate heads to the governors office for signature. This bill proposes significant amendments to the state’s “Extreme Risk Firearm Protection Order Act,” commonly known as the red flag law. A critical issue with HB 12 is its provision for the immediate confiscation of firearms upon the issuance of an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO), without affording the respondent a prior hearing.

Who votes these state reps into office? Decades ago, NM was more red than blue.

The bill SB 279 died in committee as the legislative session adjourned at noon today. But given the incidents in Las Cruces last night, the governor is going to call a special session to bring it back up.

I believe the governor was going to call a special session anyway. Gotta appease her handlers.

Uuugh...because this bill would have totally prevented that BS shooting in Cruces.
