Home or retreat?

If you really want something you'll find a way ...
... if you don't you'll find an excuse.

I'm really not a "kid" anymore ... but I haven't grown up yet either Wink

I was "retired" early so, I bought this place smack dab in the middle of the Cherokee National forest to retire to. 50' off the back porch is my own trout stream!

I've been working my old butt off on updating it and have made significant progress. Still have a long way to go until it's how I really want it but, all I have these days is plenty of time to work on it!

Best regards,

Tom

Pictures of your updates, if you are inclined, would be very interesting.

Gas line for fireplace insert to be rerouted. Installer ran it up and over front of firepace Mad

That’s why the 1/2” Milwaukee drill is laying there!

Sabers above fire place are:

Left side:

1847 Ames wrist breaker. Originally Federal but made it’s way south to a Georgia Colonel’s hand. Provenance in hand.

Right side:

Amse 1864 Light mounted artillery officer. Do not know if this one actually saw action due to late mfg. date

Print in between sabers I picked up in Fredericksburg VA. One Union and one Concederate soldier standing in shallows of Rappahannock River trading coffee for tobacco.

Print is titled “My friend the enemy” which, to me tells the whole story of the war. Rich man’s war fought by poor men.

Damn, that is awesome Tom. I could easily live there, the wife, no so much. She's into full amenities.

Do you have a skeeter problem with the creek so close?

Jim
