It is a hell of a neat watch. I know it'll be going in the end-of-the-year collection culling along with several others. Added a few too many this year, and I seem to recall hearing some guy talk about "The Disciplines Pursuit of Less" once or twice. I just had to pull the trigger simply because they had given me what I always ask of makers, and that is a clean reproduction of a classic design from their past. AND it was available, since the Q had always (and is now) always sold out. Jump first and ask questions later, is often my mode. Razz

I picked up a beautiful Tissot Seastar 1000 off the fleabay. This one came all the way from Israel and overall it’s in great shape. The case (which is all I cared about) is in very good shape with only slight signs of wear around 9 o’clock mark on the case from being set down (crown up). I immediately ditched the well worn original Tissot stainless steel bracelet for the Tissot blue rubber that I got NIB off the fleabay. It really sets the watch off aesthetically and due to the thinness and texture on the inside it is quite comfy. I might try to find another blue band as a back up. Being 19mm does sort of limit band options. Tissot remedied this annoyance by going up to 21mm on the new Seastar 1000.... Roll Eyes

It is keeping great time (about +3 a day) and is probably one of my better eBay watch scores. These older Seastars with the ETA 2824-2 are pretty sweet. The powermatic 80 is a great movement and worthy replacement for the 2824-2 but I love the size, bezel and helium escape valve on the older Seastar 1000 automatics.

Even though it’s more of a liability by adding another potential gasket that could fail and let in water it is kind of a neat feature and I miss seeing it on the newer Seastar.

I have had a number of watches over the years that were 19mm. A side effect of seeking 38/39mm watches. They're not as hard as they used to be to come by. But yeah, there's often one I want that isn't available in that size.

BTW -- Sent you an email. I have a new 19mm Hadley Roma black with white contrast stitch that might work on that watch. It's yours if you want it. Just reply with an address.

Stickman... nice score on that Tissot and band. Big Grin

Yeah 19mm is an odd one as is 21mm.

Only one I currently have with 19mm lugs is a vintage Seiko "Jumbo" 6138 chronograph (Feb '72 S/N) I bought new in 1975 special order through the Navy Exchange. As an aside it came with all white hands which is unusual as most all Jumbo 3168s have yellow chrono hands.

Getting a bracelet that fits the case properly is an extreme challenge given the need for proper curved end links that fit the bracelet. Straight ended bracelets don't look great as the case recesses are not finished like the case is. Yes there are a few specialists who sell bracelets that will properly fit if you like the style they use (e.g. tapered H-link, etc.). With my original bracelet from the mid '70s having stretched and worn out, I've gone to alligator straps and lately a leather NATO. The later is a 20mm but it fits with the slight pinching not noticeable. (Pictured on page 199 post of September 14, 2019, 6:21 pm).

So I noticed something interesting recently. Not all of them do it but a lot of my dive watches form a tiny rocket at 12 o’clock or anytime the minute hand lines up over the hour hand.

It’s pretty cool, I’ll post up some examples soon. So far I’ve noticed it on some of my Tissot, Orient and Seiko divers.

Two more examples of neat rockets that are formed by the hands at 12 o’clock.

I donno maybe, it kinda looks like a rocket or bomb. I think someone at Seiko/Orient is doing it intentionally. This one though, I don’t know.

I know it sounds odd. Haha. But, there are some solar Seiko’s that I don’t own but looking at the hands especially a solar PADI I saw recently, I think they would do the same thing. It has to be on purpose.

I always wanted a vintage Tudor Advisor, but prices are crazy ($800-$1500 for a nice one with original dial/hands). The movement (AS 1475) was used by many different companies.
Picked this up for $120. Alarm still works.

I love having a brass watch. Having a well sorted NH35A that doesn’t run fast is icing on the cake. I had it on a 20mm black mesh band today but it didn’t look right except in low light when the blue dial looked black. Back on the brown leather it went...the quest to find a decent waterproof band for it continues.

It’s probably a bit too big for my wrist but this Nixon auto has a pretty unique dial that looks like a record and has “Tick Tock and ya don’t stop” engraved on the back. Interesting. It was VERY inexpensive, different, day date and an ETA 2824-2 movement so I had to scoop it up. The name Nixon is kinda cool too. Cool

I just swapped out the Oyster bracelet on my Rolex JC DSSD for a "Rubber B" band. It utilizes the clasp from my OEM bracelet, the rest of which will reside in the safe with the box and papers. The new band is comfortable, durable, and (IMHO) looks good with the "descending blue" face of the watch.
