Landchipper,
Tell us more. You stated that your P6 came in this box, yet sounded uncertain of the originality. Are there any labels on the box? Did you aquire the gun preowned? We don't know any more than you right now.

Sorry guys,

I'm afraid that no labels were on it.
I got the P6 from a friend 3 times removed.
He did not get it new either but had nothing to add.

Therefore, unfortunately, that this is all the
information I can assist with at this time.

After the Photobucket hijack and ransom I'm going to switch over to postimage for pic hosting service, at least for now. To comply with their TOS request I'm going to replace PB pics with links to the PI pics.

Ok, so I'm feeling pretty "thick" right about now. I've owned the gun for several years, but only recently discovered that the top lid has a removable insert that, at least in my case, concealed both the owners manual and the box labels that, up until now, had assumed were M.I.A.

Steve,
Using the serial number/date log as a reference point in the Pistols section. The two red boxes date to be 1988 and 1989.

I had assumed that they were of early vintage as not long after this time frame SIG Sauer switched to the gray cardboard box.

By the way, that is quite the collection you have going there. Thanks for posting them.

For me, for the past 46 years whenever I purchase a handgun or long gun, I will take the magazines from handgun cases, clean and lube em then vacuum seal them then put them back in the box along with the original receipt, I then vacuum seal the box and all inside an acid free bag for storage. I've done this for well nye on to 40 years using a refurbished hospital grade central supply sealer.

I've got boxes going back to the beginning. Recently I cleared out my stash of boxes and cases and was amazed at what I got for 40 year old colt boxes and 80s era smith boxes still with mint wax paper inside.

Now, your asking why seal factory included mags? I prefer my own mags. I'm primarily a 1911 type and I use Pachmyer, KimPro-Tac mags and Mec-Gar enclosed follower 7rd mags.

Vacuum sealing the cases and contents keeps the box colors original, and it's sort of a cold storage, keeping the contents as they were upon being sealed.

Would you be interested in selling the 1989 Redbox? I assume you have the insert?

I have a p228 B104-XXX-JK-1989 make but no box!

Thank you for the consideration either way.

My question is, when and what were the tan (light brown) plastic cases used to hold?

Same problem here. Bought a 2009 but looks brand new P239 Nitron yesterday and it came in a
Desert Tan box with the labels matching the Serial Numbers for the gun.

Another pic of the Desert Tan case. If anyone has any idea of it's significance, I'd
sure love to hear from you.

It's a shame that they aren't downloaded to the site instead of hosting. I do however have what you are looking fo with the Tan/FDE case. I just picked it up in a local trade.
