Not often that I get something like this in the shop, came out pretty good considering it's previous state. Have a few WWII posters that were just completed today as well, will post if there's an interest.

Thanks! If it's on paper I can generally restore the item in question. Here's a little more info for the curious.

Looks fantastic.
Is the "final product" actually the original item, restored in some way (like an oil paining would be), or a "new" item, created by copying the original and filling in using photo touch-up technology to fix creases, breaks, smudges, color, etc.

That was my question too, jsut didn't want to ask in fear it might be insulting if you really did that good of a job to the original.

Looks great.

That is in fact the same piece in both photos, we removed the metal bands at the top and bottom, cleaned it throughly, linen backed the poster, then touched up and replaced any missing areas. It's all done by hand, no computers. That was easy, this one was a real nightmare. Over 72 hours to bring it back.

Thanks for all the compliments, here's a few more we just finished. These were all in pretty good shape to begin with.

Amazing work since it's all done by hand on the original piece.

I have a question, how do you fill in gaps and patch cracks so they integrate with the original piece? I can see the hard diagonal tear in the Colt piece the patch looks really smooth.

We have a large surplus of scrap paper of varied weights, textures, ages, and colors. We attempt to match the color as much as possible but sometimes we'll have to recreate the image or design of an entire area by hand. The linen backing gives a stable backing to adhere replacement paper to as well. Basically we wing it to a large degree.

Pretty amazing work. You seem to focus on some Falter work and I wonder if you know anything about this piece. I found this at a garage sale years ago. It could use some restoration work but is mounted and is a fairly large piece.

I've seen Josh's work in person and I can tell you it's stunning!
Not only is he an old world craftsman, he's a good dude as well.
