The Hornet Patch is awesome Rhino.

I used to dream about flying jets when I was a kid. Who knew the recruiters would say that you had to demonstrate sound math and physics skills?

The military had other funny ideas about my interactions with aircraft.

Missing more than a few, but what the heck. (hoping I don't get 'coined' in the near future).

Had to go digging in storage boxes for most of this stuff. Most noticeable I still need to find are my US and British jump wings.

One day, I may get some mannequins and do up some uniform sets on them with equipment we wore for 'old time hockey.'

Not my only one...Just my favorite. Got it from a student going thru fighter lean-in training. It was his tweet
(or t-38, don't remember which) class patch.

I'd love to see Doc Steve's collection but I know there's no way way he'd post them.

I have too many to show all of them.

That's an original, 1960s vintage VF-143 cap, not long after this cap was made the 'Dog' was changed to face the opposite direction. The F-4 is a model I built of 'Taproom 307', a MiG killer from the Vietnam War.

I'll just post the url for this one, you can click on it and open it for yourselves, if you care to.

RIO (Radar Intercept Officer), the dude sitting in the back. That was what we were in the F-14. In the FA-18F "Rhino", we used the term WSO (Weapon Systems Officer). It was the same job really, RIO was a hold over from when the Tomcat was only doing air-to-air missions, but when I was flying we were doing lots of air-to-ground stuff.

Those were all velcro patches from my flight suit except the 1000HR Tomcat patch, that one was an extra as I misplaced the one I wore for awhile after transitioning to the Rhino.

That's just too cool now! I've never even been in a passenger air craft. The F-14 is among my favorite fighters. Have seen video of the Phoenix whackin enemy from the sky.
Think I will just stay on the ground thank you.. Smile
