My Dad, a buddy and I went to Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone the first week of August.

I am going through a separation with my wife, so I needed to get away and let nature's beauty cheer me up.

Those are some beautiful mountains. We hiked up to Surprise and Amphitheater Lakes and then up a little above Amphitheater. I've hiked up to the top of Longs Peak before, but honestly this hike was the hardest I had done. We just weren't conditioned for that long a hike. We started on the wrong trailhead resulting in a 12 mile hike for us flatlanders.

We had a great time overall, and my buddy and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the lovely pub/bar there at the Signal Mountain Lodge.

Here are some pics of the trip from my humble, outdated Canon Rebel:

Sorry to hear about your separation.

If you were looking for somewhere peaceful and relaxing, you sure found it. I can't wait to go back there. Hope it helped you get your mind off things.

My goodness - nice photographs.

Sorry about your problems - I really hope it works out for the best for you.

Very nice BR82, I just got back from a family reunion there last week. Still amazed at the beauty, and disappointed that pics and vids will never be able to tell those who have not seen it how Grand it really is.

Did the fire in Yellowstone cause you any issues? How was the Lodge at Signal MT? We stayed at Jackson Lake Lodge in the Tetons and at the Canyon Lodge cabins in Yellowstone.

It would be hard to leave that place and return to Oklahoma.

Not to mention the Lo that has parked itself right on top of us for two days. Nothing but rain.

Yeah, you guys have been hit hard by the rain. I'm sorry to hear about all the problems Yukon is experiencing with flooding.

I'm a rainy weather kind of guy to tell the truth. I like it when it is overcast, drizzly/light rain, light breeze and in the 70s. Just love it. Smile

Don't like flooding though. Frown

The wife and I were married there at Jenny Lake at Teton National Park. Absolutely amazing time at the Tetons, Yellowstone, and the Cody Firearms museum in Cody. Words cannot do it justice.

We didn't want to come home
