Hello photo gurus!!

I need a new scanner for photo work. I've researched myself into a corner. For every scanner I've found really good and really bad reviews.

I'm willing to spend some coin for something in between the $99 special at Best Buy and a $15,000 drum scanner.

Anyone have an opinion on a scanner that they couldn't live without?

I'd let my HowTek 4500 CosMYK 3PMT drum go.

Epson makes very nice photo scanners in the $500 range if you're digitizing prints.

If you have slides, the Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED is the best, you can get a stack loader for it and batch scan a bunch. Around $1500.
