I still can't believe people would pay me to what I love! I've been thinking about this for a few months and decided to try something I'm passionate about and do it for a living. Right now I'm just trying to tap the wedding market, but not trying to limit myself to it. I'm fairly cheap untill I start filling more dates.
I learned a great deal about photography from this forum's members and would like to extend my thanks. Just wanted to share a picture from a recent engagement session, hope they like it

Looks very nice.

From what i have seen of your pics on here, you should get plenty of work.

Here's my experice from videotaping weddings...

Be prepared for batshit crazy brides!! Smile

Also, don't be afraid to charge what you are worth. Don't get a reputation as the guy who is the cheapest photog and never turns away business.

The photo you posted is awesome! There are a lot of kids out there with expensive cameras with no artistic skills - clearly you're not one of them.

Don't go cheap just for business.

If you're going to go pro, then here is some required reading. My wife is semi/sorta/working-on-being-pro, and she laughs and cries at this comic strip. I do to because I'm her assistant and gear Sherpa.

What The Duck

Congrats on the move to what you enjoy!

Congrats on the decision and best of luck getting where you want to go.

I'd like to do portrait work eventually - maybe even engagement pics if they're not covered by the wedding photog, but I don't think I would ever want to do weddings, for the exact reason stated above - batshit crazy brides!
