Deer season is almost here for most of us. How about some stands. Here are a couple of mine. The first one is an octogon shape, approx 6' diameter and up 8' in the air. Taken this September.

This one we call the Browning stand. It is 4'x4'. Taken this September.

The Browning stand last deer season. My daughter is eight and actually sits with me. This will be her third year.

Are you going to take the shot of the “BuckMark” and send it in to the Browning site, for the “SHOW US YOUR BUCKMARK” section?

That's white sand. That's what the beaches here in Panama City, FL have. Interestingly, it's not sand at all. It's actually quartz.

Very nice.

Been thinking of building a permanant one for a couple years now. My ladder stand (which we leave up 24/7/365 is starting to see it's age. Did you get build plans somewhere or just "wing" it? Could you comment on construction details? Thanks a bunch.

The top stand looks like it would contain a heater, a small battery powered TV, and an overstuffed chair to sit in. Big Grin

Here's one of our permanent stands....

And the view from inside...

And a nice little "meat buck" I culled from the herd last year from this stand.

The white stuff on the ground is our AC! I wish it was Quartz or even white sand. These stands do have heaters in them. They are Mr. Heater Buddy heaters, and are awsome. The only real problem with them, is that they make it too comfortable. In which it makes me take a nap!

Five years ago on the deer opener, the temp was -13F. It was hard to keep warm even with the heaters. The following year, the opening weekend was 65F. So, we never know what is going to hit us!

entropy-All of mine our out 24/7/365. Have built various deer stands over the years without any plans. This includes ladder stands also. As of right now, I have three enclosed stands, three ladder stands, and one we call the lifeguard stand. The lifeguard stand is an open to elements tripod with a big seat and armrest. Looks just like a lifeguard tower.

The most basic is a 4'x4' size. The are deerstand elevators. Have not used these yet, but will the next time. Have seen them and they are rock solid, and will make it more sturdy. I use 2x2's for wall framing, 1/4" luan plywood, 2x4's for the floor frame, 4x4x8 treated for legs, 2x4 treated for leg supports, plexiglass, and solid color deck stain. Everything gets screwed with pilot holes being drilled first. These stands break down to transport to each location. This size allows me to handle on my own in the woods. Hope some of this helps.

Hey Bigbore: that's one heck of a nice looking Ruger with the Mannlicher style stock. Very very classy.

I've never hunted from a stand. Maybe that's why I don't have very good luck.....

I'm kind of a "walk & stalk" sort of hunter.

Now those are what I call deer stands! Cool
No heaters. No wind blocks. No great measures of comfort. If you can't discipline yourself to sit quietly and be still, the deer will bag your ass! Seems like they meet the fair chase principles to me.

Who said we actually take deer from these warm stands! I get there in the dark, turn on the heater, take a two hour nap, wake up have some coffee and a sandwich, go for a walk, take a pee, come back to the stand, another hour nap, go for another walk, and then shoot my deer while walking! Wink

Man,,,,that sounds like a nice way to hunt.

I swear...I work TOO hard for my hunts, and come back empty handed too often.
