Gun control over here is very strict and the penalties that apply for illegal posessioning or using a gun are the same as for terrorism. Getting a permit for training as a hobby is much easier. Anyway, I am new to Sigs; I own a P232SL, 9mm/380ACP. The first question I have is if anyone can help with what type or brand of leather waistholster to buy.
Hoping to make new friends, you all have my regards from sunny Athens.

Welcome.

We've had a bunch of international members sign up lately. It's great. Stick around. If you get a chance, we are always interested to hear about gun laws in other countries.

With regards to a holster for your P232, take a look at these, DeSantis SIG P232 Holsters

Dear "storm" hi. Thanks for your suggestion, but this "desantis" company mails stuff only in the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico. So I guess I have to take a look at the local dealers. Some of these ccw leather holsters were really nice though. You people in the USA are so lucky....
Regards from sunny Athens.

Dear "kevin", hi. Thanks for your welcome note. Well, laws about firearms are very strict in Greece. The permits that have to do with personal protection are being given under very strict control. One has to prove that there is good cause and that his life is being threatened. It is very difficult to get that kind of permit; the opposite happens in the USA. The reason I got one is because the local police district director said OK, the attorney general said OK, a psychiatrist said OK and the national security commissioner said OK (with their respective signatures). Plus the social status of the applicant adds to the whole thing. This permit is valid for a period of 3 years; It has to be revalidated every three months, at the national security headquarters. I have the right to carry it on me anyplace in the country that I go to. I cannot sell it or change it, without permission, and the permit allows 250 bullets. Ammunition is under very strict control, also. On the other hand, anyone who wants to practice target or practical shooting can join one of the many shooting clubs, which can be found in the major cities and, if qualified (less strict, but still...), be given a gun permit for practicing shooting within club limits and laws. It has to be large diameter (9mm, .40 etc) and the holder of it is not allowed to carry it outside the range in a holster. It has to be locked up in the trunk of the car and the ammo in the glove compartment!!! There are very serious consequences should anyone disobey these rules and if stopped and checked by police officers. Getting caught in Greece carrying/posessing a weapon illegaly falls under the antiterrorist law and the unlucky person faces big trouble, with long time imprisonment... Anyway, I guess the above would solve many of your questions, but should any Sigmember friend come to Greece, I would be more than glad to take him/her to the range.
My warmest regards from sunny Athens!!!

Dear "randyw" I am glad you enjoyed your stay in Crete and tasted our hospitality. You also know, I suppose, how it is with guns in Crete.

Glad you joined.

Good to here that Sigs are available in Greece.

Give us more insight to Greek firearms law when you can?

Houston has a sizable Greek population, lots of Pappas here. One successful family owns a successful restaurant chain, Pappasitos, Pappadeux, Pappas Steak House...

Dear "HK Ag", hello.
You will find insight to the gun laws in Greece in a post I put up for member "KevinCW".

anargyros,
I believe DeSantis will ship internationally. I found the following on their site: " International Customers may submit payment via international money order in U.S. funds only. Please email customer service at contact@desantisholster.com for shipping and handling charges." (See Here)

Regards,
Storm

Very interesting. Thank you.

Are there any restrictions on the type of ammo you can carry? Hollowpoints or Full Metal Jacket?

What are the laws regarding private ownership of rifles?
