4.2-4.5gr of WST under a 170gr-180grLTC. Makes about 850-875fps.

IF YOU AREN'T HANDLOADING, YOU AREN'T SHOOTING ENOUGH! If you could make your own gas, wouldn't you???

I use 3.6 gr. WST under 155 to 180 gr. lead, plated or jacketed bullets. Very accurate and mild load which will probably require changinging recoil springs. I use them in my S&W 646, S&W 610, PO16-40, Sig 229 Sport and CZ-40. The CZ-40 functions without any modifications, the PO and Sig required somewhat lighter recoil springs for reliable functioning. These loads give ca 750-775 fps with plated or jacketed bullets and ca 800 fps with lead bullets.

Function tested some preliminary loads with what I had in the measure.

180 gr FPFMJ 5gr unique 4.5gr and 4gr
in an x-5 L1 with 19 # spring all functioned perfectly, best accuracy from the 4 gr loads mild recoil medium dirty with no unburned powder. Am going to ladder it down a little further with this powder prior to changing to Clays then WST.
I will report what I come up with if anyone is interested.
Thanks

stlhead,
The other powder which provides clean burning mild loads is American Select. I have used both WST and American Select. For the 1911 types I get down to 14 and 15 lb.recoil springs in order to obtain reliable functioning with these low velocity loads.

Thanks, I will look at American Select as a possible powder choice as well.

I am officially abandoning the unique for light loads, too dirty. Less than 200 rnds and the gun is so dirty that it starts affect function. Too bad is other than the gritty gun it is a pretty good load. Moving on......

4.5 grains of Bullseye over a 165 grain copper jacket round nose flat point runs around 900 fps from my P226 and Glock 22.

anyone "Fartin" around with vv320 for 40?

Stlhead - I'm interested in your load data as I too have the x5 40. GGI is tuning it up right now but I will start loading my own soon - need to build the press.

I already have vv320 and 800x with montana gold 180 fmj ready to start packing. As a new loader I plan on nice 170pf rounds...maybe softer for minor days

thx in advance

I use 165Gr Cam-Pro Trunated plated bullets with 3.6 gr. Clays. Cycles my M&P40 no problem. And yup Unique is dirty as hell.

I am a universal loader in the forty with a 180 jhp.It ain't a wimpy load so you are out of luck on that load.I tend to go for accuracy ,that where the heavier bullet and higher powder charge comes in.

Been on a 9mm kick lately so the 40 has gotten lonely. I plan on getting back to work on some nice soft loads for the 40 in a couple of weeks.
