I can't find any information on the max charge for loading 124 grain Golden Sabers with Power Pistol. I've been loading them at 1.130"-1.135" with 5.8 grains of PP just to be on the safe side. I think max charge is somewhere around 6.7 grains but I'm not too sure. Alliant's new reloading .pdf is a bit lacking as well as they don't even list Power Pistol under the 124 grain bullets. Can anyone help me out?
Welcome to the forum. According to my Lyman's I'll come close with 125 gr HP 1.075 OAL and low end Power Pistol 5.1 grns and max load 5.7 grns. The Alliant website is undergoing maintenance right now so I cannot look there for further information. I hope this helps and I am sure many knowledgeable reloaders will add in their thoughts.
You can open the Alliant's recipe guide as a .pdf. They list a 115 gr. Speer GDHP, seated at 1.125" over a max charge of 6.7 gr. Power Pistol. They also list a 147 gr Speer GDHP, seated at 1.130", over a max charge of 5 gr PP. THey don't list any information on a 124 gr bullet with Power Pistol.
I inquired of Remington earlier this year for loading info on their 9mm Golden Sabre. They told me, "The velocities we list are 1125 on the 124 grain and 990 on the 147 grain. These velocities are from the muzzle Jim." I was wanting the velocity information as I presumed the bullet was designed for maximum effect at a specific velocity. Whatever powder you select, I'd try to hit these stated velocities.
