I'm on the hunt for some 124gr FMJ Zeros, and much to my dismay, there doesn't seem to be currently any availabe, unless somebody here knows where there are some in stock? But if I cannot locate any Zeros, how do the 124gr Rainer copper plated bullets compare? I can however get Montana Gold in 124gr but since I've already purchased 1k of the 115gr, I'd hate to get any of them mixed together as they are virtually identical....Any suggestions? Thanks in advance Wink

I tried it with the "add to cart" and it goes all the way to the credit card screen and it doesn't say it's out of stock. I tried it the other way, and it said "out of stock", bummer.

The only other place that I've purchased Zero bullets online is from http://www.powdervalleyinc.com/ but they are out of the 124's. They do have the 125 FP, I've used them in my 9mm and .357Sig with no problems.

P220ST, P226R, P229R, P229RDAK, P228, P239, & various other toys.

If the cost are close, I would go with a jacketed bullet over a plated bullet.

I would not hesitate to have both 115s and 124s from the same manfacturer. Just put them in separate containers. As long as you don't dump a bunch into the wrong container it should easy to keep them apart. If you have 2 or two on the workbench, you can always just put them on the scale and you'll know their weight.

I do not think the cost is even close, the thing is I grew away from plated bullets, got tired of their little deposits in my barrel.
Not a problem if you clean after each shoot but I do the cleaning like I change oil, every three thousand or so Razz

45 Cal - have you priced plated lately? The last time I priced both (almost a year ago), plated were almost the same price as Zero bullets. Between Jan 2007 and Aug 2008, plated bullets went up like 35% (we did a group buy in early 2007 and we were going to do a group by in August 2007 on plated bullets. All of us bagged the group price and just ordered Zeros (from Rose or Ghost Holsters - which had stock and great prices).

Frankly, I was pretty shocked when I priced stuff (I was organizing the group buys). It was also a wake up call to stock up on bullets, which I did.

I've never experienced problems with plated bullets - generally the most I shoot before a good cleaning is ~600 rounds.

If the price of plated bullets drops, I'd use them again in a heartbeat. I go through a lot of ammo in IDPA since I also seem to supply my kids and their spouses/boyfriends from time to time.

My shooting friends just go to wallie world and shoot that factory stuff.

You didn't say what size or weight - but if that is for 45 cal 230 grain round nose, the jacketed are LESS than plated bullets on sale at Midway. (1,000 Ranier for 121.99)

Midway's price on 115gr 9mm Raniers is $76.99.

perhaps there are less expensive places to get Berry's or Ranier bullets, but the point is plated is almost the price of jacketed so why not use jacketed...........

18 months ago there was a significant difference between the prices.

Just1tym, I'm not far at all from you. Although I'm pretty well stocked up right now, let me know when you are ready to order again and maybe we can place a joint order for savings.

Jim, thanks for the future offer, my order was placed and paid for ahwile ago before they were even made. They (Roze) at the time were just making up batches of them so I preordered 1k. I just received them the other day. So I currently have 1k of MG 115gr CMJ and 1k of 124gr FMJ Zero's. Certainly will keep me busy for a bit. I haven't even assembled my 550b yet I'm waiting on my toolhead clamp kit, and turbo-bearing for my shellplate from UniqueTek. I certainly appreciate the offer and will keep in touch for future acquisitions. I may go thru them quicker than anticipated if it's true that handloading will facilitate more range time Wink
