Loading 100 gr. Plated bullets in 380?
I found several loads with various powders for 100 gr. Bullets on both Alliant and Hodgedon sites, however, all loads were for FMJ bullets, none were for plated. I'm looking in particular at the max load listed by Hodgedon of 3.1gr. HP-38/231. What concerns me is plated bullets are listed @ .356" while FMJ are .355".

So what do you load in 380 or what would you load for 100gr Berrys bullet? Thanks.

I have been loading 380 auto for a long time now. I used to load 95gr FMJ and lead bullets, but a number of years ago, I switched over to plated 100gr RN bullets. I have loaded both Berry's and Xtreme bullets, and pleased with both.

I use a fast powder for these small cases. I settled on Red Dot powder long ago....it just works for me and my guns.

For my blowback 380 handguns:

100gr PRN with 2.2gr Red Dot

For my locked breech 380 handguns:

100gr PRN with 2.6gr Red Dot (full factory load)

I use AAC#5 in .380 with 100 grain Xtreme plated. Very reliable and accurate in my G42.
