Power Pistol would also be my choice if I had to use one powder in all 3 calibers.

Depending on your vel. requirements, you can use almost anything. I like Unique, WSF or Universal in all three. It won't give you max. perf. in the 40 but good midrange stuff. In the 9mm & 45, they will take you mild to wild. PowerPistol would be a good choice but runs best near max. pressures & has a pretty good muzzle blast.

IF YOU AREN'T HANDLOADING, YOU AREN'T SHOOTING ENOUGH! If you could make your own gas, wouldn't you???

I use winchester 231 for all three calibres. I get great accuracy with 231 and it doesn't dirty up the bore that bad. I use it for competition in my 220,228,229,and S&W 686.

I like 231 also! I find it very clean and accurate in the 9mm and .45. I do not have much experience with it in .40 though.

I've used Power Pistol for 9mm, 40S&W and .45ACP. I wasn't thrilled with it in .45 in the end so I now use Bullseye for my .45 loads. I stay with Power Pistol for my other two loads. It is just more difficult to find locally.

My 9mm load is a 124gr FMJ over 4.5gr of Winchester 231. Very accurate, soft shooting load.

I use 231 for .40S&W. 4.3gr behind Rainier 180gr FP's and WSP's. 4.2gr works too, but I like a little more feedback that the gun went off.

W231 or Bullseye for both .45 and 9mm. Haven't ventured into the world of .40 yet

I like W 231/ HP-38 for 9mm, 38 spec., 40 cal and 45acp. It serves me well. I also use WSF occasionally.

I started with Win. 231 for 45 and 40 back over 10 yrs ago. That powder is just too dirty for me and maybe too fast for 40sw. I switched to Vithavourhi 320 for 40 and 45. I believe it is usable for 9mm as well. I think besides the dirty factor. 231 was also subject to temperature and barometric pressure thus affecting velocities that can be crucial during match competitions were power factor is measured. Keep in mind that you will need to use good reloading judgement when you reload...

I've used Bullseye, Tite Group, 231 and HP 38.

Unique has been dirty for me, but there is no way you can blow a gun up with it. It's what I use in 38 special when I only need less than 3 grains of powder.
