I am going to start loading 45 for my P220. I already load 223 and 7mm so I really only need dies and a few other pieces. I have primers and brass. I am loading a on a single stage Rock Chucker, yes it will be slow, but I don't shoot a ton and am tired of the frequent WM visits for naught.
For Dies I am going with Redding Titanium Carbide. In the Sinclair cat. it states they are for a "single stage" press. Anyone used these and what were your opinions?
I am going to try WST at first. How will this meter through a RCBS powder thrower? I am hoping to just throw and double-check occasionally, not measure every load.
Any other helpful tips are appreciated.

Thanks!

You don't mention what bullet your going to use. I like 230gr lead cast from Chey-Cast and like to use a OAL OF 1.250.

Not real sure at the moment. Probably good ol fmj or plated 230 ball. Could vary based on recommendations though.

I have found WST meters nicely on my Hornady LNL and seems pretty clean. For full house loads and heavy bullets you might also consider WSF which is slower burning. Meters good for me, too, but I did find the cases a bit on the sooty side with 6 grains under a 230 FMJ RN. Smoke-wise it was very clean.

Don't know about those specific dies, but I expect they'd work fine. I have Hornady, RCBS and Lee dies and all seem to work fine for me, maybe because I am just loading for trigger time ammo rather than bulls eye or match type ammo.

Have fun.

I like WST a lot for .45ACP.
It was recommended to me by a bullseye (2650) shooter. He prefers Nosler 185 JHP for bullets.
It meters very well and consistent through my Lee auto disc.

RCBS powder measure will meter most powders quite nicely for you. If you have data manual, there are notes on proper operation of a powder measure. A very handy tool for auto pistol cartridges is the Dillion cartridge case gage. If your loaded round drops in the gage correctly, it will chamber. This does not gaurentee round will feed in your pistol. There are many posts here about best load length for the P220 which are bullet style and weight specific. Good luck.

WST + Precision Delta bullets = A beautiful thing.

I remember hearing somewhere that the USMC competitive pistol team uses WST with a 185gr Nosler.

Of all the diff powders I have tried in the 45acp, none gives the accuracy & light recoil of WST INO. It also works well w/ all bullet types, lead, plated or jacketed. Try 4.6gr under a 230grFMJ for the softest shooting ball load you will ever shoot.

Just a head's up on Precision Delta. I ordered 2000 230 grain RN 45 acp bullets and 2000 124 grain RN 9mm bullets in July.

I just got the 45 bullets about 2 weeks ago and the 9mm I am told may ship in about a month. I have only shot about 50 rounds of the 45 bullets with a mid-range charge of WSF (not WST) and was very happy with the results.

If you order from PD, they're very nice, but you will probably want to buy some other similar bullets to tide you over while you wait.

Have fun,
rod

I've never had longer than a 2 week wait for my moly bullets from http://www.precisionbullets.com/

I shoot their .45 200 gr SWC and .230 gr and their 125 gr FP and 147 gr FP in my 9mm.

Absolutely no problems.

I was just getting ready to order some from them. I called and was told on the phone two days ago, 1-2 weeks to ship. Your saying 12 weeks, WOW. Maybe I'll go with Montana Gold, as I always say, time is money. MG has them in stock...

They may have the 45 in stock and ready to ship, as I got mine about 3 weeks ago. It's the 124 grain 9mm RN I'm waiting on. They're very polite about offering to cancel an order if it goes too long.
