Yeah, my current el cheapo caliper will kill its battery just sitting in the box. Seemed each time I went to use it, it was dead--or nearly so. That was one of the reasons for getting something a bit more upscale.

In over 40 years I've never had to replace a battery in my Mitutoyo dial calipers.
