I am interested in reloading .223, .308, .45acp, and 9mm.

How much do you save per 1,000 rounds by reloading each of these calibers versus buying good quality new ammunition?

What's "good quality new", WWWB? A close ball park is 1/2 of the cost of WWWB & it will better quality, more accurate ammo. THis is assuming you have brass or have saved all that factory stuff you have been shooting, so it's free, and does NOT include the cost of equip. Equip. cost will vary quite a bit depending on speed/volumn, $300-$1500, slow/low vol. to fast/high vol.

IF YOU AREN'T HANDLOADING, YOU AREN'T SHOOTING ENOUGH! If you could make your own gas, wouldn't you???

You make a good point--"good quality new" is open to discussion. I was thinking along the line of Blazer Brass for the pistol calibers I mentioned, and I think this is often more than WWWB.

When I reload I would like our loads to be the highest quality and most accurate loads possible. This may mean it costs more than a standard factory load. I am fine with that. I am just curious how much we will need to spend on components to approach the very best factory loads.

ACtually, even my cheapest reloads better most cheap factory stuff for accuracy by far. You can even duplicate several carry loads like GoldDots, GoldenSabers, etc. There is litle down side to rolling your own.

I find I save half on .45acp. Maybe about a third on 9mm. If you compare both to Winchester White Box. And that is buying FMJ projectiles. One draw back to owning HK.

I don't know what the savings is today because of increases but 2 years ago I could load 4 1/2 boxes of 9MM for the price of one good box over the counter.

You may have shot more, but you certainly saved on a per round basis. Roll Eyes When I was shooting CAS, I shot 2K-3K/mth. No way was I able to do that on factory ammo. Eek
