My new press is HUGE!
Can't wait to get it cleaned up and get started loading.

I used to think my T7 was beefy, until this showed up.

It's overkill for nearly everything, but I've got 5,000 pieces of empty 50BMG brass that needs loading.

Not knowing anything really about the fifty- who makes that thing?

What do you think it costs you to make ten rounds?

That is a Hollywood Gun Shop Senior turret. They were basically in business from 1939-2013?. They changed hands a few times. The ones to have were made prior to about 1982. They were one of the best presses ever made, and are very over built. You can still see them on eBay sometimes for about $700.

I bought this at an estate sale. For $6000, I got:

An Armalite AR50 rifle, with bipod and case.
A Vortex Nightforce 6.5-20x50.
5000 pieces of empty brass.
5500 pull down projectiles, mixture AP and API.
150 Hornady A-Max projectiles.
400 lbs of mystery powder (I thinks it’s 5010).
12 lbs 50bmg canister powder.
5500 CCI primers.
650 loaded cartridges, M33 ball.
65 loaded cartridges, Hornady AMax.
Hollywood senior press, with dies and shell holders.
Misc tools like runout gauge, Forster trimmer, K&M neck turner, etc.
Cartridge linking/delinking tool.
Cleaning rod and brushes.
Other stuff I’ve probably forgotten.

To answer your question, I’ll probably never need to buy anything more.

I’ll try to estimate. If I didn’t have any components, this is what it would cost. These prices really depend on the quantity you buy at once:

Brass, .$85-$1 each.
Powder, canister grade, $189/8 lbs. 225 grains = about 250 rounds. $.81 each.
Primer, $.50 each.
Bullet, milsurp, $.80/ea. AMax, $2.00 ea.

Add that up. For military bullet, like you’re duplicating M33 ball, would be around $3 a round if you had to buy the brass. $2.25 reloading your own brass.

Making match ammo with AMaxes, and it’s about $5.00 a squeeze.

It’s not as bad as you think. It’s cheaper to shoot than my 416 Rigby.

Nothing says I shoot a 50 Cal like only getting 30 reloads out of a pound of powder. Big Grin

If I had a mile long range, I'd consider getting one too.
